A Registered Relationship allows you to reduce the amount of time you need to be in a de facto relationship before you can apply for a partner visa. But you still need solid evidence of a shared-life and a committed relationship. Useful if it can shorten the time you need together, and it's valuable evidence. But it's not available in every state of Australia, and it's not applicable if either partner is still legally married even if separated.
