Once upon a time there were almost no onshore partner visa applications lodged in Australia. All partner visa applications as well as prospective marriage visa (fiancee visa) applications were lodged offshore (ie in Manila).

These days? Since they stopped issuing Condition 8503 (No Further Stay) to nearly all tourist visa grants from Manila, maybe half our partner visa applications are onshore, ie lodged inside Australia. The obvious advantages are that the visa applicant can remain inside Australia during the processing on a bridging visa. Why would visa applications in Philippines still lodge offshore partner visa applications? What are the advantages?
